"If you need a "tough" outdoor phone - this is it."

on January 15, 2010 by rushin2U
Pros: 1. Perform great for what it was designed.
2. Easy-to-use. Lit-up buttons.
3. Speakerphone quality is amazing!
4. Flashlights on these phones are BRIGHT - we already used it when got stranded in the woods!
5. 26 days of stand-by charge!

Cons: 1. Volume controls on the left side are hard to adjust while on the call - the up and down buttons could have been designed better.
2. 2.5 mm headphone jack
3. Wish it had non-verizon GPS software for hiking in the mountains.

Summary: My wife and I were looking for a strong, solid set of phones when we switched from ATT to Verizon (got tired of dropped calls, poor call quality).

We were not looking for smart phones of any kind. We go outdoors quite a bit and were looking for a phone with exactly the same features we found in this phone. In so far we found call quality to be great (we are not sure why so many poor reviews on the call quality), amazing speakerphone, decent camera quality to capture those unique moments when we don't have our digital camera present, Gz Gear has quite a few handy features, simplified menu.

Most importantly we know these phones will withstand freezing temperatures, water-resistant - they have already been tested by us in North-Central Washington. These phones perform well in mountains with PTT.

We care less for the music player, but did purchase micro-SDs for the photo and video storage and did through a few songs on them to test it out. Great music sound through the stereo!

Picture quality is great and easy-to-adjust the settings while in use.

The flip lid is attached in a very solid manner - nothing flimsy on this phone. We compared this phone for a few days to Barrage and a few other models. No comparison - these are right phones for us.

We are very happy with this purchase - no need to replace them for a few years.

  1. This is a very helpful review. The author is reveiwing my "indestructable" phone. The reason it was so helpful was because he listed the pros and cons. One of the pros he had was that its extremely durable. He goes on to explain how he knows it is a tough phone. The author other then his hate for att doesnt seem to have any biased. I would use this critic again because he gives plenty of helpful advise.
